Requirement
Backup diesel generators are expected to feed loads following a defined sequence.
For sectors composed of electrical grids under important constraints such as nuclear, offshore or datacenters sites, these sequences are supposed to evolve with the changes of management strategies as well as new security requirements.
In this field, CAPSIM achieves a study whose aims are the following:
- To identify margins on the capability of accepting currently non-exploited loads,
- To define a simple tool allowing an engineer to evaluate the various scenarios regarding load acceptances.
Realization
Based on the exploitation of its dynamical model of diesel groups, CAPSIM highlights the parameters influencing the capabilities of the diesel group to be able to accept loads under allowed frequency and voltage limits.
Results
This study has brought to light the available margins on specific load acceptance steps.
The tool was then used to define the charts usable by the engineering team in order to evaluate the various load acceptance sequences proposed and to analyze only those that have been chosen.
